Parade Haven Dachshunds
Testimonials
Placing puppies in loving homes is our #1 priority. It gives us great pleasure to see our pups loved and adored as much as we love and adore our own doxies. We raise our puppies for the first 8 weeks, but seeing them well beyond that is a true treasure! Some breeders don't think of their puppies after they leave their care, but for us the care and concern goes on for the lifetime of the dog. We ALWAYS appreciate follow-up pictures and stories and really enjoy building friendships with our new found doxie friends!
Below are some testimonials from past puppy buyers. If you purchased a puppy from us and would like to add your story or pet's picture, please feel free to let us know! We'd love to honor any Parade Haven puppy!!

Dachshunds have always been my favorite breed and
after loosing my first one after 13 years, we knew we needed another
Dachshund in our family! I met Laurie through the internet and after reading her website and seeing all her puppy pictures, I knew she was the breeder for us! Honestly, I cannot remember how long we e-mailed back and forth to each other (we had updates everyday), but I do remember her telling us “Lilly” had her puppies and that “Miley” (who is black and tan) was the last puppy to be born! My kids were thrilled! Laurie soon welcomed my family into her home, we met for the first time, met her family and our new “Miley” as well! I knew Laurie was the most caring, loving “Mom” to both her family and her doxies!!! Miley is such a wonderful dog….she has a great personality and is awesome with kids!! After Christmas (2007) we realized one dachshund was not enough for our family! After some time of e-mail with Laurie and deciding which puppy would be our next, we decided on “Jackson”! He is the LOVE of our lives!! Miley and Jackson both have the same dad….Jack! They are both the best dogs a family could ever have! When friends and family come to my house, they instantly fall in love with our dogs! Miley and Jackson have certainly brought joy and many, many laughs to our family! I would highly recommend Laurie and her family as your top choice for a dachshund breeder…..she loves her family and each and everyone of her dogs and their puppies!! All I can say is “Thank you so much Laurie for what you have given to my Family” And ask “When is my Third puppy coming?”

Bryce and Lou (Josie x Jack; DOB 1-7-08)

To all potential families- You will not find a more competent breeder. Laurie Topham is a wonderful breeder of the dachshund breed. She is the very BEST!! My own story involves my family looking for 1 puppy and coming home with 2. I soon found Laurie through the internet and started emailing her. I asked various questions in concern to the breed. Laurie was able to help us, as a family, make the decision if the dachshund breed was right for us. She is very knowledgeable of the dachshund breed. Once the decision was made and the puppies were on there way, we got weekly, sometimes daily updates on the mom and the puppies. I was very excited to wake up every morning to check my email because Laurie was always sending some type of picture or information for us. Since receiving our puppies, 10 months ago, Laurie and I have truly formed a wonderful friendship. She takes a sincere interest in all of her puppies, not just when they are in her care but also once the puppies leave her and go to their forever homes. We have been able to visit so she can see Lou & Bryce grow and for our boys to socialize with her very well behaved adult doxies. If you are looking for a dachshund, please talk to Laurie. I can't say enough compliments about her for you to know what a wonderful person she is. I'm sure after your initial conversation, like I, you will know that Laurie is the best breeder because her love of the breed has no limits.
Thanks Laurie for all that you have done for us!!

Philip (Lily x Jack; DOB 5-30-07)

Dave and I were really skeptical about adopting a dog from a non-local breeder for many reasons. We really wanted to meet our dog and our breeder, but we especially did not want our dog’s first away from the breeder’s experience to be on an airplane. When we found a short-haired, non-miniature dachshund breeder in New England, we were psyched! Sensitive to our desire to meet her and our future puppy in person, Laurie invited us to her home. We played with her dachshund pack and toured her kennel. When we met 4-week old Philip, who had been nick-named Bones, we fell in love. The match was one made in heaven because we did not choose him for looks (even though he was and still is adorable); Laurie chose him for his emerging personality. She knew he was the right dog for us based on the information we had shared prior to our meeting. Laurie was really good about keeping us updated with Philip’s veterinary appointments and plenty of pictures over the next month. After four weeks we were able to pick Philip up and bring him home. She sent him home with a blanket he had shared with his litter-mates. We were able to use this to enhance our own bonding with Philip. And it’s been happily ever after since. We can’t wait for Laurie’s next litter, so we can bring a friend home for Philip! ~~Rachel Michaud Townsend, MA |

Juno (Quinn x Jack; DOB 8-20-07) |
I was looking
for a breeder who brought up the puppies as part of the
family and I certainly got lucky with Laurie. My puppy Juno had a
great
start in life. Juno loves kids & I guess that's after living with 5
young boys. Joyce

Lily (Josie x Jack; DOB 10-15-06) |
I have had dachshunds in my life for many years and currently own 4 of them. While I adore every one of them for their unique personalities I must say I have been most impressed with the dachshund I got from Parade Haven Dachshunds. Lily is such a perfect little dog. Her temperament is wonderful. She is incredibly intelligent and loving and has been easy to train. My daughter shows her in 4H dog shows and Lily has also completed her Canine Good Citizen certification. She is a joy to have in our home as part of our family and I know if I ever decide to bring another dachshund into our home it will come from Parade Haven Dachshunds. Angel

Oliver (Josie x Jack; DOB 1-7-08)
|
Parade Haven Dachshunds was a great experience for me! I emailed Laurie after I found the website from breeders.net and she responded very quickly. She was very friendly and we both exchanged stories and shared our love of dachshunds! She put me on a waiting list and emailed me as soon as my puppy was up for grabs. After I decided I definitely wanted him, she sent me updated pictures whenever she could! I even drove up to meet the pup and Laurie was very friendly and answered all the questions I had. All in all, I am very happy that I got Oliver from Laurie at Parade Haven and I would recommend her to others looking to purchase a dachshund. Since Ollie is a piebald, I get a lot of comments about how people have "never seen a white one before" so I feel like my pup is very unique and I love it! Natalie |

Lucy (Lilly x Jack; DOB 5-30-07)
Quinn "Aunt Quinn" to Lucy, Quinn was an adult that we retired and placed in the loving care of Gail and Cindy! We can't thank them enough for opening their hearts to Quinn...she's an amazing girl!

Laurie Topham of Parade Haven Dachshunds put her heart and soul into her puppies. She and her family make sure the new litters are completely socialized which makes the transition to a new home so much easier on all. When we got our little Lucy, she went right with us and never cried or whined the whole way home. She is a pure delight and wins over all people and even some dogs immediately. Laurie also is concerned about her pups after they leave her and she will stay in touch and ask for updates and feedback so she can constantly improve the lives of her Dachshunds! Gail and Cindy

Frankie Valentino (Lilly x Jack; DOB 5-30-07)
|
I feel so lucky to have discovered Laurie at Parade Haven Dachshunds. Frankie is my fifth dachshund. I currently have Sadie 11 and Frankie 1. All my doxies have been loveable and have had their own personalities, but Frankie is special. He is the healthiest, most playful and loving “Little Guy”. I think this is due to the exceptional upbringing he had by Laurie. He was definitely handled with lots of love and affection and lots of socializing with people and other dogs. He is also very gentle. As a puppy can be a little “out of control” Frankie is always careful not to bite me, he just playfully nibbles. He listens very well and he was easy to housebreak. Frankie is usually the hit with all who meet him. He has very unique markings. He is, after all, a “Black and Tan, Silver Dapple Piebald”. If you notice his side view, he has a mark shaped like a heart which is fitting because he has stolen mine. Laurie has always been so friendly towards me and answers all my Doxie questions. She’s a very nice person to know. Debbie and Larry
Breeders Note: The litter that produced Frankie, Miley, Philip and Lucy was a very special litter. Their momma was a sweet dog, but was not cut out to be a mother at all. After losing our first ever puppy (#5 was born with a cleft palate, unfortunately) and trying as I might to "teach" Lilly how to be a mother, it was in vain. I was now learning the "down-side" of breeding and was put upon me to be their primary caregiver at just 2 days old. I spent countless hours bottle feeding, burping and cleaning these puppies. After a week or so they got really good at nursing on that bottle and so it began a strong bond between them and I. Josie put her strong maternal instincts to good use and stepped in and nurtured these babies side by side with me. The picture on my "Girls" page of her hugging that baby is actually her and Philip! This litter was surely a labor of love, but I think it also resulted in the most affectionate puppies possible! They learned very early on to trust the human touch and I can not express enough how grateful I am that they found the homes that they did! All of you are fantastic people and truly the kind of homes I wish for all of my puppies! Endless Thanks! Laurie |
